Emily Lucarz Dream Action Feature – Rachael Myers Photography

Mar

25

After moving home to St. Louis, I have had some more time to reflect on the past year and where I have come from. After creating the Dream in Color and Black and White action sets, I never imagined so many other photographers would be producing such beautiful images with them. I had of course HOPED, but when I see all the images actually completed, it really makes me happy. I have decided that I will randomly post photo shoots from photographers that I adore whom have used my action set throughout their session. These will be hand picked and not extremely common, but I will choose sessions that I feel exemplify extraordinary work both behind the lens as well as using the action sets. There are no rules to using these actions. Rachael Myers was the one to let me know that you can turn off the black and white layers within the black and white actions, to create stunning color images.  You can then run the color actions on top of that edit to give it a more airy and ethereal feel.

So, my first Dream Action feature is all about Rachael Myers Photography. She is not only a photographer whom I can call a friend, she is an EXTREMELY talented lifestyle photographer as well as leader in the community. Check out this lifestyle feature she was just in! For real love this girl. ALSO…she is the designer behind Simple Sally Designs, a beautiful new logo design line she recently created.  I love how Rachael uses the actions JUST ENOUGH to finalize her image. They are not over done, but used perfectly.  Enjoy.

Rachael Myers is a lifestyle photographer for families with babies and children in Peoria, IL. She has been working with little ones for the past three years. Rachael is a momma, wife & the owner of Simple Sally (a great resource for photographers!) Rachael loves photography (of course!), graphic design, pizza and ice cream – but her favorite thing of all is time spent with her family.   This shoot is all about her perfect little love bug using both the Dream in Color and Black and White sets.  Some of them have both sets run with the BW layer turned off.

What Rachael has to say about her use of the Dream Actions:

“For my color photos – I like to hand edit in lightroom & then move them into Photoshop. Then I can enhance the image to give it an extra “something”.  My go-to action for color is ironically in the Black & White set – it’s Reverie. I turn the black & white layer off, and reduce the opacity to about 30%. That gives the image some moody matte. From there I like to go into the color set & use “dreamy”  at about 15%. It’s just enough to make it light & soft. When I want to use black & white from Emily’s actions I go to Muse. I turn off the “drama” & “lighten” to give it the look I’m after. From there I flatten & if needed I will add some depth & grain! These actions are really perfect! The two sets together are the only way to go. Best of both worlds 🙂 ”

Senior year always feels far away… until it suddenly isn’t. If you’re starting to think about senior photos for the Class of 2026 or Class of 2027, spring and summer are some of the easiest seasons to book. I photograph seniors throughout the St. Louis area, and planning earlier almost always makes the experience feel […]

GAH. How is Eva old enough to graduate. She will be graduating this Spring of 2026 from Saint Joseph’s Academy (Saint Joe). This hurts my brain. I have known and photographed her since she was little as I’ve known her mom a long time! I love this season I am in with who I’m photographing. […]

I discovered a hidden spot during my son’s soccer practice that would ONLY work for about 15-20 minutes AT sunset, and ONLY if there was sun. I mean…. I GUESS we could do NO sun too…. but the sunset was epic here. Actually, this was late in the season and we had to move spots, […]

This baby needs no introduction. Clearly his hair speaks for itself. 🙂 I LOVE simple newborn sessions. Each one will go totally differently depending on how sleepy they are, when they arrived, etc etc.  When photographing newborns we will do so about day 10 through about day 21 (ish).  We have many come early and […]
