Photographing the shy children

Studio mini sessions are one of my favorite types of sessions to do. As any parent knows, to get a toddler to focus for more than 30 minutes takes a small miracle. That being said, sometimes parents get nervous that amount of time wont be long enough to warm up, especially with shy children. We do our best with gentle introductions, a bin of toys and a super calm but fun atmosphere. All of that being said, those sweet shy faces may be some of my favorite to capture!

When this kiddos mom emailed me for a mini session, she let me know he may need a minute warming up. She also stated she wanted to capture his sweet and shy personality. When you see a few photos below and his cheeks you will agree.

This little guy spoke to my mama heart. He reminded me SO much of my firstborn, Tyler, who is now 14. Oh to go back to this age again and capture his personality all over again.

If you are a mom with a super shy child, don’t hesitate to capture the moment of that stage of life. It goes WAY too fast.

I do want to chat for a moment about what to wear to mini sessions. Here is the thing. My photography studio is all white. ANYTHING works in there. However, you will see me drawn to the organics and nothing over the top. I have a rack of some organic toddler outfits, or, mom found his outfit on her own and it was perfect! Here is the link to the outfit! Its organic and gauze feeling… I was obsessed!!
