How lucky am I that I get to call this my job. I wanted to share with you a session I did a bit ago in Utah. Pretty much what ended up to be a mountains and maternity session. I was in Utah photographing a fellow photographers family as well as teaching a lifestyle workshop that weekend. My friend from HighSchool, Emily, happily volunteered to be one of our lifesyle workshop families. She was due to have her baby soon, has two already beautiful children and is for real the sweetest person on the planet. I was so excited she volunteered.
We started the day with the indoor lifestyle shots. You will see a few behind the scenes of the workshop. After we played inside, there was NO WAY we were not heading outside. It was mid day, so full sun which leads to very difficult shooting situations, but it was a great teaching opportunity of course and we got to die for amazing photos. Wait until you see her backyard! I have had a few people ask me which backdrop I used LOL! First of all, I don’t OWN any backdrops. Secondly, that backdrop is the mountains. As in, God created all of that! So amazing. And it’s her backYARD! Living the dream. Good thing she’s so sweet :). Shoots like this make me extra happy. Instead of me blabbing away, take a peek. There are a ton. Make sure to scroll all the way through to the bottom. We had a ton of shots and some pretty epic ones towards the end.
On a side note. Not everyone can say they are in love with their job. I really am blessed. One of the biggest reasons I do this, well the only reason really, is to be able to capture memories for families. Emily sent me a note that made my heart explode. I have asked her if I could share as when you read it, you will understand why I am 100% obsessed with this “job”. I have copied and pasted her note:
“Em.
I just spent the last 20 minutes sobbing
You are so gifted. We have had at least 10 different photographers over the years and NO ONE even comes close to you. I am completely floored by your talent.
You captured my family perfectly. It’s actually really almost shocking, having never met my kids or husband or anything….you just nailed it. I can’t believe I am so lucky that I got to have you in my home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Seriously, these are my favorite pictures that I have now outside of my wedding day and I even wish I could go back and have you shoot that too! You are truly truly an outstanding talent. Thank you for letting me have these precious photos. I am going to print ALL of them!!!!!!!!!!! I truly can’t thank you enough. I can see why you have had so much success. Had you been here you would have shot Willas newborn photos as well. Seriously Em…..my favorite pictures of my WHOLE LIFE. I could write a testimonial about your work! Haha. And the one of roman looking out of the corner of his eyes on the bed….and Dom standing against the striped wall, and ALL the ones of him and his orange T. rex, and the ones of Danny holding the boys upside down, and the airplane pictures…..I could go on…..and on…..AND ON.
Bravo my friend. You’ve got some serious SKILLLLZ. ” – (She cracks me up)
Obsessed with this shot. Love his feet up top!
